A M B A P by Ill Clinton is an album from Philadelphian beatsmith and Native Records representative. A M B A P brings forth an experimental, lo fi, hard hitting project. For all intensive purposes the album is aiming for the listener, the appreciator of art, for the individual who reveres and admires even the smallest detail, provided the utmost profound affect. This is the Sistine Chapel only retold and embodied in audio.
One particular thing Ill Clinton excels in is setting the mood. You get this present feeling of eeriness in some of the beats, creating a contrast of eeriness and grace, obscurity and hopefulness all in one breath. “Blue Orchid” with its hard hitting drums, demonic keys, sinister organs is a great example of A M B A P's eeriness only to fatefully leave you in the hands of a beautiful voice in the end. The album is laced with shrouded samples unveiled and complimented exceptionally well with great bass lines and masterful drums. As the album comes to a finish you realize its not the end, with its infatuating beats put into existence they serve as a reminder its a continuation of something good, something that never left our hearts.
