IAMNOBODI delivers one of the most satisfying and multi-dimensional instrumental projects of this year. On Dearly Beloved, the Berlin-based producer sculpts an album that brings a variety of moods and characteristics, while remaining consistent in term of the album's overall layered and textured sound.
The album kicks off a somber note with the "Intro (Une Bell Journee)", a sorrow filled piano composition set over atmospheric sounds of the ocean. The energy level is turned up on the proceeding west-coast g-funk inspired track "Best Believe", which is one of the album's finest moments. "Eternal Youth" reminds me of a tribal ceremony with its commanding vocal chant and hand percussion. Within the first few songs of the album, we can see IAMNOBODI's versatility and ability to effortlessly evoke numerous emotions and vibes, which is continued throughout the length of the album. The liveliness and rhythm on "Fluid" is magnified by the rolling drums and heightened by some incredible contributions by San Francisco-based producer, Mikos Da Gawd.
The ambitious musical ideas and styles on Dearly Beloved are executed in a way that will make this album appealing to a wide audience. I'll be listening to hear where the talented young beatsmith takes his production from here.
